Limpopo soul

The Cape gives us terroir. Limpopo gives us everything else.

Our wines are made in the Western Cape. But they are shaped, in every decision that matters, by a place more than a thousand kilometres north: the Limpopo province, homeland of the Tsonga people, and the childhood landscape of Joseph Maluleke.

Limpopo is not a wine region. It does not appear on any appellation map. It has no Grand Cru classification. What it has is something older and harder to quantify: a relationship with the land that pre-dates modern viticulture by centuries, and a word — Talangi — that carries within it everything this Maison is trying to do.

A heritage carried forward, not put on display

Talangi does not use its African identity as decoration. The Tsonga heritage of our founder is not a brand story to be told over and over until it loses its weight — it is the reason this Maison exists in the form it does: with discipline, with restraint, with an absolute conviction that what comes from this continent belongs in the world’s finest company. The bold and the vibrancy that form Talangi’s visual identity are drawn from Tsonga textile and craft traditions — reduced to their essential line, used with permission and intention.

Language and Proverbs

Words that outlive the bottles.

Across our labels, boxes and journal you will find lines in Xitsonga, accompanied by English translations. They are not marketing slogans. They are fragments of the worldview that formed us.

Rooted in the ancient heritage of the Tsonga people and elevated through world-class winemaking in the Cape, Talangi offers a rare union:

“Muti wa ndzhaka” – The home of inheritance.
“Xirilo xa n’wankumi” – The chosen path of one among thousands.

These are reminders that Talangi is not simply a commercial brand; it is an attempt to bottle a lineage of thought.
