A cellar founded between two worlds.
Talangi Private Cellar was founded by Joseph Maluleke, a South African attorney, energy investor and lifelong student of fine wine. Born in Limpopo and refined in the boardrooms of Sandton, his journey has always moved between rural memory and global ambition.
Talangi reflects that same tension:
- Vines grown in the Cape’s celebrated wine regions.
- A cultural heart anchored in Limpopo’s Tsonga communities.
- A worldview shaped by international finance, exacting standards and long-term thinking.
We are not a celebrity label and not a supermarket brand. Talangi is a Maison in the original sense of the word: a house with its own philosophy, its own codes and a cellar that will outlive its founder.

A founder with one foot in Limpopo, another in the world.
As an attorney and corporate advisor, Joseph Maluleke has spent decades structuring deals, negotiating across borders and advising those who move capital at scale. Talangi is his private passion made public – a long-term wine project built with the same rigour he brings to complex transactions.
His role as steward of the cellar is simple: to say no more often than he says yes. To guard the narrative. To ensure that every Talangi bottle that leaves the Maison can stand proudly on any table in the world.
Steward of the Cellar
Working with the best to bottle only the rarest.
Talangi operates as a négociant Maison. We do not own vast vineyards. Instead, we cultivate relationships with a small circle of Cape growers and winemakers whose standards match our own.
We source exceptional parcels of fruit and carefully selected base wines, then work alongside our partners in the vineyard and cellar to craft wines that carry the Talangi hallmark:
Precision of origin
Always clear about where the grapes come from and why.
Integrity of craft
Traditional methods, meticulous blending, low intervention.
Discipline of selection
Only barrels that truly belong in the Talangi cellar are bottled under our name.
This model allows us to stay light, focused and uncompromising. Our asset is not land. It is taste.
